Wall Calendar 2012 - Perfection
THE TASK
The 24th cult wall calendar for the cult paper brand Scheufelen – and the eighth by Strichpunkt.
THE CHALLENGE
After ‘White on white’ (2005), ‘Non plus ultra’ 2006), ‘The sky’s not the limit’ (2007), ‘The 4th dimension’ (2008), ‘1/1’ (2009), ‘Think big’ (2010) and ‘Peak performance’ (2011), to create the next highlight in calendar design.
THE SOLUTION
More than any other shape, the circle embodies timeless beauty and perfection. Be it in physics or maths, astronomy or geometry – nothing is more captivating, nothing is used to such a varied degree, and nothing is more expressive. That is also true on paper – which is why the signet of the Scheufelen paper factory displays the legendary phoenix on a circular background. The 2012 Scheufelen calendar is consequently a well-rounded affair not just in terms of print and processing, but also visually. The Strichpunkt designers pay tribute to perfection over 14 pages; playful and puristic, humorous and precise, sophisticated and direct: from the sun to the earth, from a wheel to a clock, from a slice of sausage to a pea. Perfectly produced on a perfect foundation, of course – and, as always, strictly limited to 4,000 copies worldwide.
