Metropolis 2011
THE TASK
Design a series of posters for the Schauspiel Stuttgart theater and the contemporary realization of the theater’s »Metropolis« motto.
THE SOLUTION
Strichpunkt designed 12 posters in black and neon green featuring urban scenes combined with a rough collage look and reduced colors made to match Fritz Lang’s classic silent film »Metropolis« to be placed on the cultural advertising pillars and for use as CLPs. The »off-stage theater« look was selected intentionally and creates a graphic reminiscence of the interim home of the state theater, which has temporarily moved into a former automobile repair shop while the venerable theater building it usually calls home undergoes renovations, and documents the active participation of the theater in Stuttgart’s cultural and political life.
The poster series has received several awards including a silver nail from the Art Directors Club.
