The 40th BFF Annual is surely the most unusual annual to have been published by BFF in the past 40 years. The BFF (Bund Freischaffender Foto-Designer) commissioned Strichpunkt to develop an exclusive cover for its 40th anniversary. The result is a book whose packaging is more than surprising: comprising more than 700 pages, this heavyweight is now enclosed in a high-quality sleeve which returns to the early days of photography as a camera obscura and invites readers to play. To this aim, special techniques were applied, e.g. blind embossing, foil embossing and stamps across the entire sleeve as well as on the actual book cover.

As always, the bulky photo and illustrated book offers a cross-section of modern photo design in Germany with BFF photographers presenting their best work, classified by area or activity. Furthermore, annual prizes and awards presented by the association are depicted on around 100 pages – an indispensable manual for the sector and a unique photo art book representing new stylistic directions in the area of photography.
