DPDHL Group Corporate Font

awarded German Design Award & Corporate Design Preis

This year's winners of the German Design Awards have been announced! The DPDHL Group typeface "Delivery", which was developed together with Dalton Maag, was named "Winner" in the Typography category in the Excellent Communications Design section. And we can even be twice as happy: the typeface, which is derived from characteristic elements of the DHL and Deutsche Post design, was already awarded in the category Corporate Typography at this year's Corporate Design Award.

Delivery

The typeface for global logistics

DPDHL Group and its two brands DHL and Deutsche Post previously used more than 20 different font styles worldwide. A new, compact font family was needed to create consistency, differentiate the brands from each other, improve readability and save space, and ultimately create a uniform tonality - regardless of the brand or application. It simplifies the design by reducing the previous six fonts to a single font. Cyrillic, Arabic and Asian writing systems help convey unity and strength for the global brand. The round arches are ideal for digital representations, the compact proportions save space and resources.

Together with our partner Dalton Maag and the established team members on the customer side, we are very happy about the awards!

German Design Award

Jury statement

»The new ›Delivery‹ corporate typeface of the DPDHL Group combines distinctive elements from the logos of DHL and Deutsche Post, giving it a familiar feel. At the same time, the font impresses with particular clarity, appearing timelessly modern and friendly and supporting recognition of the umbrella brand across all media«, said the jury.

»Good design requires an in-depth examination of the challenges of our time – because social and political changes require constant questioning and the ability to set new priorities, as well as incorporating previously unknown perspectives. The German Design Awards recognise this extraordinary achievement«, explains Lutz Dietzold, CEO of the German Design Council. »The German Design Awards raise awareness of those companies, projects and products that keep pace with the transformations of our time, driving sustainable solutions and providing innovative responses to an ever-changing world.«

The German Design Awards are the largest prizes of the German Design Council and among the most recognised international design awards. For eleven years now, the German Design Council has been honouring pioneering designers and their work with this coveted prize. Entries are judged by an international jury made up of leading experts from all disciplines of design.
