Stuttgart, August 22, 2024 (Press Release, translated)
Kick-off in Dresden! When the women's Google Pixel Supercup makes its debut at the Rudolf Harbig Stadium on August 25, 2024, the new branding will also be presented for the first time: The design and branding agency Strichpunkt was commissioned by the DFB to develop a contemporary design for the new brand, including the logo, typography and color scheme. The highlight game, which was last played in 1997, now impresses with progressive, clear and dynamic design elements in bold, expressive colors.
The combination of elegant dark purple and strong light green gives the brand a modern look and also creates a link to the DFB. The characteristic green sets fresh accents in the graphic pattern. Classic white is used for central brand elements such as the match field and typography, which also form a link to the existing DFB brand world. The DFB's corporate typeface, “DFB Sans”, is used in a dynamic italic style.
The logo of the Google Pixel Women's Supercup integrates the trophy with a silver look and shine, embedded in the DFB logo system. Another new feature is the striking, upward-sweeping diamond-shaped Supercup symbol, which symbolizes both the duel and the dynamics of the competition and is intended to ensure a high level of recognition. This element is also used as a pattern and underlines the growing popularity of German women's soccer and the competition at the top. The variable, expressive compositions of the diamond-shaped Supercup symbol create a powerful effect and emphasize the independence and modularity of the design.
“The new Supercup design stands for modern, professional women's soccer that embodies passion and diversity. It is intended to help increase the visibility and reach of women's soccer and increase the enthusiasm of the fans,” says Holger Merk, Head of Brand & Marketing Services, DFB GmbH & Co. KG. “The branding developed by Strichpunkt and the DFB is progressive and dynamic, it stands for innovation and the current zeitgeist. Compared to other brands in the DFB cosmos, the new design radiates a uniqueness through the bright color scheme - exactly the content that we associate with the Google Pixel Supercup for women.”
Katinka Sacher, Art Director at Strichpunkt, adds: “With a bold and dynamic color scheme for the Women's Supercup, we are not only giving top-level soccer a special expression, but also highlighting the growing importance and influence of women's soccer.”
